HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!!!!

As the time nears for everyone to ring in the New Year and say good bye to the old, I want to wish everyone out there a very prosperous, healthy, loving and joy filled New Year! 

Looking back at the past year that I've had, I could sit here and cry, laugh, be angry, be sad....but there is one thing that was constant through out the entire year, and that is love.  A love that I never knew so personally before.  A love that has made it through fights, distance, deployments, struggles, good times and bad.  A love that has made me smile, made me cry, built me up and showed me a side of me that I never knew exsisted.  People ask me all the time, "how do you do it, Cassie? How do you handle being a military wife, without falling apart?"  And as much as I have asked myself this same exact question, I think every single military wife out there will come up with the same answer I have....the only answer that there is.  LOVE.  There is no other way that we can make it through this lifestyle if there wasn't an undying, real love behind it.  When it comes down to it, all the struggles and hardships of this life, I wouldn't change it for the world.  There is no other life I'd rather live, and no one else I'd rather live it with! 

Here's to looking into the future and never turning back!  Happy New Year everyone, and if nothing else, I hope you find love this coming year.  A love so fulfilling and satisfying that you too will find the strength to overcome any and all obstacles TOGETHER & STRONGER!

Sit at Attention!

So when you live on base, or are on base at any time around 8 am or 5 pm, you will know that colors plays, and you are to stop whatever it is you are doing and stand in silence.  But how many people get to say that their dog (without any training, mind you!) knows that they are to SIT at attention?!  YEP!  Our smart pup on his first day living on base heard Colors going on in the evening, and sat outside at attention. Didn't move a bit until it was finished.  Now as impressed as I was, I just blew it off as mere coincidence that he would be so well behaved.  However, we've been on base for about a month now (but only actually here for about a week altogether after holiday travels) and EVERY time the trumpets start, Cooper sits at attention and doesn't make a sound or move until it is finished.  While all the other dogs are running up and down the fence and barking along with the tunes, he sits and pays his respects!  It is by far the cutest darn thing I've ever witnessed in my life! Some day soon I will actually take a picture of it and post it on here for you all to see!  Needless to say, he was cut out for the military life!

What do you do when he loses his ring?

So as all of you military wives out there, and any personal friends of mine that have ever talked to me for more than 2 minutes, may know...every single time your cell phone rings, there is a sense of pure excitement that completely overcomes you.  Regardless of what I am doing at the time, the minute my cell phone rings, nothing else matters because I know that for at least the next minute or so I will be hearing his voice.  Today was no different, until I answer the phone.  Now, I know my husband well enough to know when something is wrong, and today something was really really bothering him.  Finally he spit it out..."I've got some bad news", he says, "I've lost my ring."  Wait. What?  Yep, I heard that correctly. Apparently, my sweet dear husband was wearing work gloves while they were out moving dirt around, and from sweating all day, when he took the gloves off the ring decided to come off too.  Now, keep in mind they are working with about 5 truck loads full of dirt out there, so the likelyhood of him finding that diamond in the rough...well is gonna be pretty rough!  :)  (Sometimes I really do amuse myself!)  The pain in his voice as he said that to me absolutely shattered my heart.  I thought I would be upset if anything like this ever happened, but knowing how much it pained him to not have it on his finger anymore made me realize something. 
Alot of times people tend to think that materalistic things define us or parts of our lives.  It was important for me to let him know that the ring on his finger was not what defined our relationship.  It is merely a symbol of the commitment we have made to each other.  In any sense, I realized that being hurt or crying or yelling was not going to change the placement of the ring. So instead, I sucked it up and told him how much I loved him and how sorry I was that he no longer had it. I took advantage of the opportunity to let him know that regardless of the situation, he was still my husband and he would have a ring waiting on him when he gets back home. 
So I ask you, what would you do if your significant other lost something that was of importance and meaning from you?  As hard as it is to swollow sometimes,  we need to all realize that love has far more meaning when we show it through our actions of patience, respect and support.  He needed my love and support at the moment, and I did all that I could to give it to him!  Besides, thats what this life is all about, isn't it?

It's Official!

Have it be known now, I am officially a BLOGGER!!!  Go easy on me everyone, this is my first ever blog.  Although, I have read many blogs in the past, I never thought I would really get into them.  However due to recent events (no more wedding planning to occupy me, and a deployed husband to leave me completely bored 24/7), I have decided to go out and ATTEMPT to conquer the world wide blogging web. :) So as my first post, I'd like to just give you some background information on me, and a little bit of what I intend to use this blog for!  Again, go easy on me....I'm new!

I'm Cassandra Richardson, proudly married to my best friend and hero, BU3 Richardson.  We are currently stationed in Gulfport, MS, however he is serving overseas in Africa at the time.  This is our 2nd deployment together.  He also served in Afghanistan last year while we were engaged. I am still unsure of how all of this military wife stuff goes, but I am beyond excited to stand behind him and do all that I can to support him to the best of my abilities.  I graduated from Gaston College, in Dallas, NC, in May with an AAS Architecture and an AAS General Occupational Technology.  Don't be fooled, I'm not nearly as smart as those degrees may make me sound like.  I love photography, art, cooking, and decorating. However I dont really fit into the category of a "girly girl".  Surprise Surprise.  I enjoy going outside and getting my hands dirty.  I use music as a means of therapy, and there is nothing I love more than (besides my husband of course) sitting in a bubble bath with music and a book.  I know...goes back to the girly girl part. I'm just me.....get to know me! Follow along as I go through this journey of being a military wife, and raising a military family!
